September 7th is marked as the Duchenne Awareness Day around the world.

Muscular dystrophies are a group of genetic conditions characterized by progressive muscle weakness and atrophy. The Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) primarily affects skeletal muscles which are used for movement and also cardiac muscle. This rare and fatal disease occurs once in every 3,500 newborn males in the world.

By raising awareness all around the world we may give hope to thousands of children and their families that the malady they are suffering from will be closely studied and treatment options will continue to evolve.  Please visit the official DMD web site at http://www.worldduchenneday.org/ to get more information.

The GCT team offers its experience in clinical research studies for new treatment options of a number of these rare diseases. Please contact us at bd@gctrials.com and we will leap into action to organize your clinical study in DMD and any other rare disease.
