GCT India celebrates India's biggest and most important holiday of the year Diwali

Diwali, or Dipavali, is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This year Diwali will start on Wednesday, the 18th of October and will continue for 5 days until Sunday, the 22nd of October.

Most offices decorate their places of work with Rangoli and Lamps and distribute sweets. Rangoli designs are made using colored rangoli powders, ground rice powder, flowers and lamps. Traditionally the designs are created by women and can be of simple geometric shapes, deity impressions, or flower and petal shapes appropriate for the celebration.

We wish Dr. Umakanta Sahoo, Managing Director of GCT-India, our Indian colleagues and all who celebrate a great Diwali! GCT office in India will open its doors again on Monday, October 23rd.

Happy Diwali!
