October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women, impacting 2.1 million women each year (WHO)
The number one factor that increases the risk of breast cancer is the history of having the disease personally or in the family. Other factors might include poor ecological conditions, exposure to radiation and obesity. The risk of having the disease also increases with age. Early diagnosis is crucial to improving treatment outcomes. Mammography and Clinical Breast Exam (CBE) are the two most popular methods used for screening of breast cancer.
Oncology is one of the main therapeutic areas we focus on at GCT, having performed numerous studies in Breast Cancer over the past few years.
