World Schizophrenia Day

#Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis characterized by continuous or recurrent episodes of psychosis. This is one of the most complex and serious mental health disorders that can be inherited. In the general population, only one percent of people develop it during their lifetime.

It is an interesting fact that the term ‘schizophrenia’ literally means “a splitting of the mind”.

Signs and symptoms of schizophrenia include:

  • Delusions
  • Hallucinations
  • Disorganized thinking and speech
  • Extremely disorganized or abnormal motor behavior
  • Disturbances of emotions
  • Reduced or lack of ability to function normally

Schizophrenia is treated with a combination of medication, psychological care, and community support, however, that differs between the countries.

GCT has extensive experience in psychiatry research and schizophrenia in particular. Various pharmaceutical companies entrust GCT to conduct these studies and connect them with local KOLs. Contact bd@gctrials.com to find out more about our CNS experience.
